Sounds like nightmare to me! Although the randomness does sound a bit more engaging than some of the text adventures I have played.

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: Stuga: Mapping Heaven or Hell?

It's one of those classics I never played and I don't know if I could muster up much excitement for it now, but the story of how these early games came about is pretty inspirational! It was a truly independent industry in those days.

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: Zork

Really amazing how much was out there in the 70s, First Person Shooters - RPGs, it almost feels like all thats changed is the graphics.

Also - Woods sent Crowther an EMAIL!?!?! I had no idea this was going on in the late 70s!! Sure, it was probably called "Laser-letter" or something, but still, the fact you could do that before I was born is amazing to me.

Gaming critique is going to become huge as we get older, so this website has great relevance.

For me, games are special because I feel they are the artform that has grown in tandem with my lifetime. I love films, music, literature, but they were all pretty much fully fledged by the time I was old enough to be a good judge, but I remember when Super Mario was "amazing graphics" and Sam and Max and Fate of Atlantis just blew me away!!

Keep it up!

Forum category: Hidden / Per page discussions
Forum thread: The Evolution of Adventure: Make Game

This is to keep a record of games which I can't get screenshots for yet. Basically falls into two categories.

I haven't got the hardware or can't run the right emulator to play it.

I can't find a useable copy of the game to play.

Here's a chronological list:
tbc/1979 - Warp (Rob Lucke and Bill Frolik)
tbc/1979 - Lugi (Paul Kienitz)
tbc/1979 - Martian Adventure (Brad Templeton & Kieran Carroll)
tbc/1979 - New Adventure (Mark Niemiec)
1979 - Haunt (John Laird)
1979 - Mystery Mansion (Greg Hassett / Adventure World / Mad Hatter Software)
1980 - Time Quest (William Demas)

Forum category: Asio City / The Database
Forum thread: No Screenshots / No Game Copy

Welcome to Asio City. This is intended to be a friendly place, helpful and respectful. You can be as serious or silly as you like. All I ask is that you treat others as you would like to be treated. Argue all you like about puzzles, plots, platforms, whatever. Don't harass people and all the other common sense things we like to aspire to.

Most of all - enjoy the site.

Forum category: Asio City / Reception
Forum thread: Site Rules

This is a list of all the websites with feeds in the side bar. Obviously most of them are adventure focused, with some only partially adventure articles, and a couple that fit in with the current period of gaming Asio City is at. If you want to suggest any relevant RSS feeds to add then fire away.

http://www.adventureclassicgaming.com/
http://www.adventuregamers.com/
http://ags-ssh.blogspot.co.uk/
http://www.alanif.se/
http://archive.org/details/getlamp-interviews
http://ben304.blogspot.co.uk/
http://emshort.wordpress.com/
http://www.filfre.net/
http://gamingphilosopher.blogspot.co.uk/
http://www.gnomeslair.com/
http://www.hardydev.com/
http://inform7.com/news/
http://lacunagame.blogspot.co.uk/
http://mixnmojo.com/
http://www.postudios.com/blog/
http://www.sizefivegames.com/
http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs
http://www.textadventures.co.uk/blog/
http://threeedgedsword.wordpress.com/
http://www.vintagecomputing.com/
http://xiigames.com/blog/
http://www.z-machine-matter.com/

Forum category: Asio City / Reception
Forum thread: News Feeds
